Commonly Asked Questions about Dental Implants

What Dental Implants Can Do?
Replace one or more teeth without affecting bordering teeth.
Provide support for a denture, making it more secure and comfortable.

Are You a Candidate for Dental Implants?

The ideal candidate for a dental implant is in good general and oral health. Adequate bone in your jaw is needed to support the implant, and the best candidates have healthy gum tissues that are free of periodontal disease.

What Is Treatment Like?
Replacing a Single Tooth.   If you are missing a single tooth, one implant and a Cerec Crown can replace it. A dental implant replaces both the lost natural tooth and its root.
Replacing All of Your Teeth   If you are missing all of your teeth, a full denture can replace them. Dental implants will replace both your lost natural teeth and some of the roots.
A key to implant success is the quantity and quality of the bone where the implant is to be placed. Before the placement of an Implant we recommend a dental CT scan which is a 3-D image of the upper, lower or both jaws that allows us to determine the appropriate placement for the implant, as well showing us the density of the bone and depth measurements.   To get the best success, we generally wait 4-6 months after the placement of a Dental implant to do a Cerec Crown on the implant.

What Can I Expect After Treatment?
As you know, your own teeth require conscientious at-home oral care and regular 6 month dental visits. Dental implants are like your own teeth and will require the same care. In order to keep your implant clean and plaque-free, brushing and flossing still apply!  Periodic follow-up visits will be scheduled to monitor your implant, teeth and gums to make sure they are healthy.

  1. Dental implants can replace one or more teeth without affecting other teeth. It can also strengthen a bridge and abolish the need for a removable fractional denture. It also supports dentures that makes this technique more comfortable and safe.
